Meet our happy-go-lucky girl, Stevie!
Little Stevie was a shelter favorite and kept alive for much longer than usual, waiting for someone to come along to adopt her. No one did and so Camp Cocker rescued her to give her a chance to find a forever home. Stevie is an older gal, perhaps ten to twelve years of age? She was completely blind in both eyes due to cataracts. Stevie had cataract surgery on her eyes in December of 2011 and although her sight is not perfect, she can now see shadows and outlines of objects. She has learned to run for the first time as she can now see enough to not run into things!
Stevie most likely had been a backyard dog her whole life as when we first rescued her, she preferred to be outside, even when given the choice of being indoors, she would find her way to the doggie door and seek to go outside. She enjoys laying in the sun and getting fresh air. Perhaps she just never knew what being an indoor dog could be like? Since she has been in the good care of her foster home, Stevie has blossomed into an indoor dog whom enjoys being touched and cuddled! We learned that Stevie is not an early riser and likes to sleep in. She needs her beauty sleep to keep her pretty looks! Also, we discovered that Stevie has some night time incontinence, so she is on Proin (medication) to help with this. Its not her fault, she can't help it! Hey, we are all going to get old some day too and who knows if we are going to have night time incontinence!
We understand that Stevie is going to be hard to find a forever home for, and while she is in Camp Cocker, we are not able to rescue any other senior dogs until she can find a home of her very own. We are trying to have faith that somewhere out there, is someone as special as Stevie is, someone whom doesn't mind opening up their home and their heart for whatever golden years that Stevie might have left. If you are that special someone that Stevie has been waiting for, you will be changing her life!

You can follow Stevie's video diary from first getting her out of the shelter to now.
We are in need of donations to help with boarding and medical!
