Meet shy and sensitive little boy, JOSH!

Josh is one of those dogs who has the sad eyes that just breaks our hearts. He is very shy with strangers handling him and when he first meets prospective adopters, he appears to be aloof when actually he is really just fearful of new people. He needs to be approached with gentleness and because he has handling issues that revolve around trust, we would like to find him a home with someone who is dog savvy and can "read" him and know when he is feeling safe or insecure. A home with no children for sure, we don't want Josh being stressed out by unpredictable movements. The thing is, once he knows you and trusts you and bonds with you, he is actually a very warm and affectionate dog. But it takes awhile for him to build up that trust with someone new and because of it, he keeps getting passed over for adoption. We are so worried about Josh and are really hoping that someone special will come along whom will accept him for who he is and not try to force him to change or force him to trust someone before he is ready. He just needs a nice quiet and understanding home, where he can be allowed to come around at his own pace and until then, just given some time and some space to get to know he is safe with you. Is there someone really remarkable out there whom might want to give a special dog like Josh a chance?
