Meet the silky black beauty, IVY!
Ivy has come a long way from a depressing shelter in Los Angeles to where she is now! She had two cherry eyes that had gone untreated for so many years that they completely covered both of her eyes. We had her cherry eye surgery done and she can now see again, but she has dry eye that she will need prescription eye drops four times a day for life. She is so happy to have good care now and to be able to see anything at all.
Ivy is friendly with mellow or passive dogs but she does not like pushy or bossy dogs that get in her face. She is great with the boy dogs (she likes boys!) but if there are other females in the home, she needs to be the top dog. Who can blame her after all she has been through? Ivy needs a home with someone whom is prepared for taking her for rechecks at the eye doctor to make sure her dry eye is kept comfortable and well lubricated. We have been taking her once a month for a dry eye test while they adjust her medication and her eyes are looking amazing right now. Whomever might adopt her really needs to stay on top of it so that Ivy can be comfortable and continue to get her prescription eye medication to keep her feeling great!
