Meet the kissable delicious, COLTON!
Colton is a handsome youngster -- probably only about one year old -- and everywhere he goes, he gets oohs and aahs over his good looks. Colton has a gorgeous red coat with blond highlights on his head, and his fur is still silky and puppy soft. And those eyes! He really looks like a doggie model.
Oh, but forget about how good-looking he is on the outside, it is Colton's personality that is really going to get you. He loves to be on your lap or getting a belly rub. He is very affectionate and craves human interaction and approval. Colton loves to play with his squeaky toys and will happily chase them if you will throw.
Colton is an active and athletic dog who needs lots of exercise. He probably could be good at agility if someone trained him. He does need basic obedience training, but he is a smart boy and already has learned some commands. If Colton gets some exercise during the day, he is a very mellow boy in the evening. He will follow you around the house and then flop at your feet to rest.
Colton has been to doggie daycare and gets along well with other dogs. He also has gone with his foster family to chaotic soccer fields where there were multiple games going on and many people, kids and dogs, and he was friendly with everyone he met.
Colton loves to be brushed and will allow an adult to touch his ears, paws and all over his body with no problem. He also will let an adult take his favorite things (toys, food, and bully stick) away with no protest. While he is sweet and friendly with children most of the time, he has on occasion let a child in his foster home know about his displeasure with a growl on a few occasions (she tried to take a toy from near him, untangled his paw from his leash, moved his paw off her lap). Since he really seems to respect the authority of adults, we think he would be great in an adult-only household.
Colton has separation anxiety and needs to be in a home where someone is at home most of the time (like a stay-at-home parent or someone who works from home), OR he needs to go to doggie daycare when his people are at work, at least at first until he starts to feel secure in his new home. Having a doggie pal may help him feel more comfortable when his people aren't home.
Colton needs someone to give him security and stability and a routine that he can count on so that he can put those memories of being homeless behind him. He is such a young dog with so much to offer . . . are you that adopter who can give Colton a chance?
