When Checkers came into the shelter he was limping from a broken hip. Well of course we couldn't pass this fella over and we rescued him and immediately sent him to Dr. Birr who did an FHO surgery on Checkers. Well this sweet heart of a dog was so patient while he was in post-op at his foster home. He was such a good boy while he had to be on cage rest for the weeks that followed. Now it has been two months and you would not even know he ever had surgery. He has healed up wonderfully and now he is ready and waiting for his forever home!

Checkers is a happy boy, loves people, loves other dogs. He is potty trained to use a doggy door and he has been just a lovely little man in his foster home. Checkers is dreaming of finding a home of his very own, with someone who can spend time with him, take him walking and continue to build up the muscle in his legs. He just got his first cocker cut and oh my goodness, the show dog that he looks like now . . . who knew he was even more gorgeous than we first thought? Checkers is one of those special dogs and we'd love to find him some people that are equally as special as he is. Is that you?
