Meet these bonded sweethearts, BETTY & VERONICA!
Betty and Veronica, two dogs, four eyes, one eye that works! (Betty is the buff girl, totally blind, Veronica is the white/red girl with one eye missing) We love these gals like nobody's business and everyone who meets them feels the same way. These two senior ladies were rescued from a horrific situation of animal hoarding. They arrived at the shelter covered in feces, fleas and tics. We rescued four dogs that animal control took from a hoarder that had collected 300 animals. Betty and Veronica both had some medical rehab, dentals, gums infected, Veronica had multiple extractions. Next stop, we took them to the eye doctor. Veronica's one good eye is doing fine, Betty is blind in both eyes and the pressure in her left eye is normal while the pressure in her right eye is slightly elevated and she has begun meds for that eye.
In spite of the trauma and extreme neglect these girls have been through, it has not affected their spirits or willingness to trust people. Veronica will go up to anybody and make friends, she is very outgoing and flirty and acts much younger than her adult age. Betty is a bit more reserved, quiet, but not terribly shy. She just follows Veronica's lead and goes with the flow. We would like to find these gals a home together, just so they can bring each other comfort. But if we have to split them up, we will to the best homes ever. These girls need to now find phenominal adopters, someone really ready and willing to make sure the rest of their lives they will never again know neglect or suffering or untreated medical. They are such loving girls and we really do hope someone will consider adopting them. Older dogs make the best pets, they are so easy and so appreciative of a nice home.
